Mission Statement

About Thyme Permascapes, LLC works to create and maintain beautiful gardens through soil retention, watershed adjustments, and thoughtful planting. New and established areas are transformed from high to low maintenance spaces.

Purpose:

To restore soil and desired plant life in order to avoid desertification and to improve ecosystem services. These services include nutrient-rich soil, water retention/storage, pollinator habitat, shade/sun, wind protection, food, medicine, aesthetics, and many others. Utilizing principles of permaculture; a high-maintenance area of stressed land may be transformed into a thriving, low-maintenance refuge.

 

Why:

Ecosystems of all sizes, which allow our planet to operate, are damaged and in need of repair. Development has increased fragmented lands, disrupting soils and their ecosystems, creating more edge area than open, interior space. Consequently, this disturbance has negatively impacted many plant and animal populations that require open and varied habitats, along with the essential microbes that make up fertile, productive soil. Instead of fighting nature by segregating humans from natural systems, it is much easier to work with nature and restore the ecosystem services that are provided to us all. Regeneration of lands, whatever the size, will lead to human resilience into the future.

 

How:

An appealing, low-maintenance landscape may be achieved through observing and working with natural systems, in order to create a design, which will adapt the landscape to reach the clients' desired goals. While utilizing strategic planting methods, reducing and recycling yard waste, soil integrity is strengthened.
