Xeriscape Conversion

Landscape design

Maintenance

If you are looking for less maintenance, lower water bills, and more curb appeal? Xeriscape conversion is the way to go. As an added benefit, sign up with the City of Fort Collins Xeriscape Incentive Program, to save up to $1000 per year on your utility bill! Convert a side yard; an unused turf area; or up to 1000 square feet of monotone, water-loving Kentucky Bluegrass into a low-water, multi-color, outdoor space. Native shrubs and perennials provide food, water, and shelter for native birds and butterflies, not to mention beautiful aesthetics

Work starts with a comprehensive design, working with the wants and needs of the client. Next, removing undesired, existing landscape materials, including grass, if desired. Then, preparing the soil for planting with rich plant-based compost. Plant beautiful, hardy native plants. Lastly, fine-tuning the drip irrigation system if one is installed. When finished, relax and watch patiently for a lovely new landscape to develop.

Looking for some help getting started? A landscape design will help organize what you want, with what you have. With over 5 years experience getting clients their XIP rebates, About Thyme knows all the qualifications and requirements for the landscape design and specifications for plants, needed to receive the XIP rebate through the City of Fort Collins.

In addition to Fort Collins, another xeriscape incentive program exists called WaterWise - Lawn Replacement Program (resourcecentral.org/lawn).

Similar utility rebate programs are beginning all over the arid west. However, even without the rebates, switching to a low water landscape has many valuable benefits, called ecosystem services.  Ecosystem services, the things that nature does for us if we let it. Such as, water and air filtration, water retention, pollination for food,  micro habitats, shade, wind break, aesthetics, heat retention or absorption, etc.
